Augustine

France, 1870. A young girl is admitted to a mental asylum, traumatised into dumbness and internal isolation by some unknown dark event. Experimenting with hypnosis and photography, her physician attempts to “show her who she really is”. But her rehabilitation confounds his expectations, as his treatment awakens hidden desire in them both.
Made as Graduation Film at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), 1993. Winner Special Jury Prize for Best Student Film, Houston International Film Festival.
